Chromebook has been a new trend recently among the people who needs a portable computing unit for their average day to day work. Samsung is the first commercial chromebook partner and it allows them to explore this market ahead of its competitors.
The Chromebook 2 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch editions offer some slight performance differences to help justify the $80 difference in price between the two models.
The $319 model offers a 1366×768 display with an Exynos 5 Octa chipset clocked at 1.9GHz with 4GB of RAM. The $399 model offers a 1080p display with a 2.1GHz Exynos 5 Octa and 4GB of RAM. Samsung plans to make the 11.6-inch model available in Jet Black and Classic White while the 13.3-inch model will be available in Luminous Titan Gray.
While Haswell chips are generally considered to be more power-efficient than their ARM-based cousins, stamina doesn't appear to be a cause for concern with Samsung's new offerings: The 11-in. Chromebook 2 promises a full 8 hours of battery life per charge while the larger 13-in. model is listed for 8.5 hours.
All Chromebook 2 systems ship with a "productivity software package" that includes three apps. These “premium apps” include AirDroid Premium, Wunderlist Pro, and LittleBridge.
AirDroid is a fantastic web based smartphone management service for Android phones that offers you control over most of your phone without touching it, while Wunderlist sets you up with a set of sharable task manager tools and allows for collaboration with multiple users simultaneously. LittleBridge.com is an educational app that helps teach English, so there’s a good chance that if you would benefit from one or two of these included apps you aren’t likely to use the others.
AirDroid and Wunderlist’s paid apps in combination with LittleBridge are $100 in services according to Samsung, but are obviously only worth it to you if you decide to use them.
